Like a cricket test match - the game in its most classic, serious, most stamina-sapping form - I approach the most demanding and most testing grape of all, Pinot Noir, with careful consideration and mental intuition.
I pace myself like an opening batsman during the harvest. I guard against exhaustion; fatigue leads to mistakes. I continue despite the discomfort of the unique weather conditions of Northern Tasmania. I'm not one for the flashy, reverse-sweep sort of wine either. But what I am is passionate, with a competitive spirit that is completely focused on crafting and creating the very best wine this region has to offer."
